Well, ú is simply another accented vowel. You pronounce it just like any other Spanish u. The only thing it changes is that the syllable which contains it is the syllable of the word that is emphasised. (según, azúcar)

.

On the other hand, ü does change the very pronunciation of the letter. It's a little complicated, so hang on.

A 'normal' u will sound like w when it is after g as well as before a or o. (averiguar, antiguo)

Well, a 'normal' u that comes between g and i or e acts to 'harden' the sound of the g, which otherwise would be softened by the effect of the i or e. (Compare girar, guitarra and gente, guerra.) The u itself is not pronounced in this case.

.

The diéresis (the double dots) above the ü merely function to give the u that /w/ sound before an i or e. (pingüino, antigüedad)

Make any sense? I hope you can figure it out somehow... red face

ü, como vergüenza y agüero, se usa despues de 'g' siempre, y se pronuncia como GW. Normalmente, no se pronuncia 'u' despues de 'g'. Por ejemplo, guerra, guitarra, guisar. ú, se usa para énfasis. Por ejemplo, tú.
