Why would New Year be in the plural? Surely there is one New Year, not many? - lagartijaverde, Dec 31, 2011
Birdy, that is a common mistake here in the states, everyone says it for some reason. Except me of course! jejeje Happy New Year! - Yeser007, Dec 31, 2011

It's not a mistake. It's shorthand.

"Happy New Year's eve"

"Happy New Year's (day)"

Feliz Año Nuevo a usted y su familia hermosa!

(If you are saying to this to only 1 person, and if you want to show respect).
