Yep, chaparrito/a is probably hands-down the most often heard, especially in my area... there are others but not so much used as nicknames (with the exception of the last 3 perhaps) for someone of this build:

  • pícnico,ca
  • retaco,ca
  • rechoncho, cha
  • chicoco, ca
  • petiso, sa
  • tachuela

I have even heard enanito used, but only in "close quarters"... with very close friends and acquaintances! wink

For our British friends, how often do you hear "titchy" used, and is it somewhat 'friendly' or more toward 'peyorativo?' - cristalino, Dec 31, 2011
Thank you for addressing familiarity as well as translation. Your response helped out a lot. - reneecurren, Jan 2, 2012

I'd guess "Bajito"

Pero tal vez justo "Shorty" (pronounce más como: CH-ortee.) ('tongue-in-cheek' digo eso. Por serio por favor no toma más que broma.)

o,

"Chilangito" (de ciudad de Méjico)

o, otro/otra: "ito" "ita" ajunta a palabra apropiada.
