A dilemma - singular or plural verb?
Which sentence is correct:
My favourite food are chips
My favourite food is chips

Food is a singular (collective) noun, so "is" is correct.
. . .at least that's what they taught us in the 4th grade ![]()
. . .but later I heard that it might depend on what your defintion of "is" is ![]()
