What is "la funa"?

The dictionary does not return an answer. I read it in a Chilean newspaper.
Example: las funas pueden ser inobjetables desde un punto de vista jurídico

In that vein:
Las funas han sido criticadas por ser una forma de tomarse la justicia con las propias manos, eludiendo el actuar de las instituciones de justicia.

Actually, I think the word is Japanese. Funa zushi, or fermented sushi is made with fish of the carp family known in Japan as funa.
