Arrogante ---> ser or estar?

Question

Being arrogant will ultimately cause failure.

_______ arrogante últimamente causará un fracaso.

Would I use "ser" or "estar" for "being"?

Hi!!

You can use the both of them, but the meaning will change. "Ser arrogante" means that a person is always arrogant, it's part of her/his personality. But "Estar arrogante" means that a person is being arrogant only in a specific time.

E.g.

"Ella está muy arrogante creyéndose mejor que nosotros". / "She is being so arrogant thinking she's better than us"

"Ella es muy arrogante, siempre se cree mejor que nosotros". / "She is so arrogant, she always thinks she's better than us"

The effect of "ser" is to characterize a person by a particular trait:

Ser (una persona) arrogante/orgullosa/soberbia... ? Being (an) arrogant (person)...
