El verbo "Desencadenar"

Question

One of my favorite Spanish verbs is "desencadenar." This verb generally means to unleash or unchain in both a literal sense and a metaphorical sense. For example, "Los analistas temen que la muerte de Kim Jong-il podría desencadenar un periodo de inestabilidad." The analists fear that the death of Kim Jong-il could unleash a period of instability.

Would you please provide me with other examples for the use of this verb? Thank you.

se desencadenó una ola de protestas

a storm of protests erupted

ellos eran capaces de desencadenar una guerra

they were capable of unleashing (triggering, setting off etc) a war

La chispa de la buhia provoca la combustion del automovil y descadena una reaccion energetica...

the spark from the spark plug causes the car to combust and sets of an energy reaction
