I would like to translate this sentence into English.

El es mejor estudiante que tú.

And I have two options:

He is better student than you

He is a better student than you

Thank you for your answers, as always.

When we say what something is in English we always use "a" e.g. I am a student. I am a teacher.

So he is a better student than you. But he is better than you (at studying).

Excellent answer, Rabbit :) Lovely touch.... adding the contrast in use at the end :) - FELIZ77, Dec 23, 2011
Yes, we would say: Madonna is a better singer than her. - nila45, Dec 23, 2011
