Hola, Yaction. This is a common question and if you put either word into the search box on the Answers page you will find a lot of opinions expressed
. Here is one link - there are many others.
The short answer: Suelo (literally "ground") is also commonly used for the floor, i.e., that flat surface that you walk on inside any building. Piso also means floor, i.e. that same flat surface, but it is also commonly used for stories of a building - first floor, second floor, etc. (I seem to remember from another post that piso can even mean "playing field" as in sports. Better not quote me on that though.)
There is no single, simple answer however, since there seems to be a great deal of regional variation associated with the usage of these two words. It is an interesting question and worth reading up on just to see the varying opinions from around the world.
I think suelo is the soil o ground example (you can put plants in). and piso it is a flat surface or artificial materials. example(tile)
I think suelo means floor, as in the bottom of a room, the flat surface your feet steps on.
And piso means floor, as in storey, or the level of your house relative to the ground, used commonly for high rise buildings.
But don't take my word for it, wait for a native to get that clear for you.
Thanks a lot ajaks for the link![]()
