I am trying to understand what the word "el morete" means. I think it means "bruise" but how does that differ from "golpe"'

It comes from the verb moretear, which I think is used only in Latin America. I have also heard magulladura used for bruise. The medical term is contusión.
So, un morete puede ser causado por un golpe.
