calor versus caliente
When do use calor and when do you use caliente? What is the difference, and can they be used interchangeably?

Hi Chris,
Welcome to the forum. You should look these up in the dictionary!
Calor means "heat", while caliente means "hot". So no, they are not exactly interchangeable, as they mean two different, but related things.
One can say, "Hace mucho calor." (It is very hot- weather.)
Or one can say, "La casa está muy caliente." (The house is very hot.)
Tengo calor. (I am hot- I feel hot)
La chica es caliente. (The girl is hot- sexy.)
In all these examples, the words are not interchangeable. They are different words and used differently.
Hi Chrissa,
Try doing a search of previous threads using the terms "calor" and "caliente." There are at least a half dozen or so posts on this subject that you should find quite helpful. For example, here is a link to one of the more recent posts: caliente or calor
