I believe a Gorro is a skull cap and a Gorra is a cap with a visor? Am I correct so far? Then there is also a cachucha! Is cachucha also a baseball style cap with a visor ? Are gorra and cachucha interchangeable? And finally, is Gorra the most common word used to describe a baseball cap? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE. uf!

My friend from Columbia uses gorra for a baseball cap. He told me the other day that "gorro is more like a sombrero."

I wasn't familiar with cachucha, but it looks like it can mean a lot of things- a boat, a hat, a dance. (See SpanishDict dictionary)

The RAE agrees, saying: "Especie de gorra." (Type of gorra)

Look up cachucha in Google images, and you will see a lot of baseball cap pictures.

I think it can be various types of caps or hats.

I'm a son of Mexicans, but I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Spanish is my first language.

gorra or gorro is more like a fedora

cachucha is strictly a basball hat.

sombrero is a hat worn by mariachis or cowboys.

When I went to buy a few wool caps in Celaya, MX, they were specifically gorras. I am trying to remember what baseball caps were called there; I think gorra as well.
