The 10X refers to how fine the grains are—the larger the number, the finer the grains. - Izanoni1, Dec 14, 2011

Actually I am a Preschool Teacher in Elizabeth, NJ and want to explain to my parents what materials we are going to be working with to make Royal Icing. I speak a small amount of spanish and I am always trying to improve my vocabulary.

Thanks so much!

Hola marshalist. Bienvenido al foro.

I just found no less than four ways to say confectioners' sugar en español, depending on the country/region. Type "azúcar" in the box and see for yourself! Where are your parents from, if you don't mind me asking?

Hi Marshalist, and welcome to the forum!

I have seen it as azúcar flor

As ajaks mentioned, however, there are probably at least a few different ways to translate this (Just as English as a number of ways to express the idea, i.e. confectioners sugar, powdered sugar, bakers sugar, etc). You might find this wikipedia article informative: Azúcar glas

My favorite has to be "azúcar de lustre." (also used as a term for "frosting"?) - ajaks, Dec 14, 2011
