My best attempt is chipped (referring to more than one thing)

Past participle of desportillar being used as an adjective:

RAE

Deteriorar o maltratar algo, quitándole parte del canto o boca y haciendo portillo o abertura.

Merriam- Webster

Translation of DESPORTILLAR

to chip

desportillarse reflexive verb

Examples of DESPORTILLAR

  1. hemos tenido que tirar varios platos y vasos que se han desportillado en la mudanza

  2. un asiento desportillado

  3. tazas desportilladas

desportillar.

  1. tr. Deteriorar o maltratar algo, quitándole parte del canto o boca y haciendo portillo o abertura. U. t. c. prnl.

this is what the SD dictionary refers to:

  1. Architecture . a surface that makes an oblique angle with another, as where the opening through a wall for a window or door widens from the window or door proper toward the face of the wall.

these synonyms may tell you more than the definitions

What is the context?:

I like the chip the edges defintion.

Nevermind, that would be desportilladores - erikjgray, Dec 13, 2011
I don't think Spanish works quite like English. The RAE dictionary doesn't recognize "desportillador." In what sense are you using "splayed," the architectural? - territurtle, Dec 13, 2011
