What does "tapujas "mean?
My friend said, "Emily, como te llamas?"
Emily said, "Que dijo el tapujas?"
Then everybody starts to laugh...

I haven't heard that before but perhaps it's connected to tapujo which I think can mean subterfuge, concealment and can refer to someone in a disguise or with their collar pulled up around their face to hide their identity. Although it should be 'el tapujo' in that case. El tapujas doesn't work - tapujas would have to go with a plural feminine article 'las'.
There is also a saying hablar or actuar sin tapujos; meaning to keep everything aboveboard. ![]()
