I know two possible translation: "Quiero irme" and "Me quiero ir". Which is more popular and how are they used?

"Quiero irme" and "me quiero ir" both mean the same thing. It's just an option of where to place the pronoun "me." What you're saying with either is basically "I want to leave/get out of here."

If you just want to say "I want to go," as in "I want to go to the party" or "I want to go to the gym," you would just say "Quiero ir" without the me.

You would probably say "Quiero ir a..." in most cases. You could also say "Tengo ganas de ir a..." which means the same thing. I think "Quiero ir..." might be more common, but you will have to ask someone who lives in an area where spanish is more prevalently spoken.
