As far as I know, escamillo is not a word.
It's the name of a character in the opera "Carmen", if this may help.

Escamillo id definitely a name from Basques area of Spain. It is my husband's surname and I have traced it back 5 generations so far and have found many cousins with the same spelling of the last name. Though there are ithers that speel it Escamilla - Teriden, Jul 13, 2016

y husbands surname is Escamillo I cannot find a translation even though I have traced it back 5 generation. I believe it is a variation of Escamilla which is derived from the name of the town Escamillla in the Gualaljara Province in Spain.
