Flashcard time limit
I just wanted to ask a question, just out of curiosity. I am currently enjoying the many sets of flashcards put up by the wonderful members of SpanishDict (just started on them!). I think at the rate I'm going, I'll be able to finish the Recognize and Listen parts, but I'm having a little trouble with the Recall parts because of the accents and long phrases.
At the bottom, there were many people who had recieved all 200 points for the Recall section. Is there a way I can do this too? I'm kind of competitive with myself, and I would like to have a go at the perfect score. I know the flashcards are here for learning, and I really appreciate the massive amounts of data here(for free too!) for everyone to use. Bu...t... I'd like some tips as to how I can type faster and recieve full points for the sections.
Any tips to beat the time limit people?

Don't shuffle the order and get used to it. That way you can type the next word before the other one has left the screen, there is a review screen after each correct or incorrect answer but you can start typing the next thing immediately, you don't have to wait for the next window.
Just to build on what Mariana said - make sure you use your keyboard for the accents and ñ and not the on screen buttons
As you've already said, this doesn't make a direct impact on your Spanish learning BUT if you're having fun you will learn better and be able to learn for longer without getting tired.
What i did to get the perfect score in one lesson was do the recall section in English by changing the language on the top, that way I had to type the English words instead of the Spanish... of course I learned nothing!
My advice is to take some Valium before you try to attempt a perfect score.
This will probably save you from watching your computer fly across the room.
I'd say that you'd have to be a good typist and have the accent keyboard set up so that you're accents are fast too.
I must admit that I don't do the Recall section of flashcards because it's so frustrating to lose points while I'm trying to type as fast as I can!!
Good luck!
This is the reason I've never officially completed a single set...
I find this frustrating as well. It's annoying when you know all the words, enter them correctly and swiftly, and still only get 9 because the word or phrase was long and contained accents. Perhaps the site administrator could change the settings on the timer. That way, we'd have a realistic chance of getting a perfect score, which would encourage us all to continue studying Spanish and tell our friends about the web site.
It also helps to learn the Spanish keyboard for the other special characters. To mention a few ( ) ¿ ?
shift plus 8 is equal to (
shift plus 9 is equal to )
shift plus the plus sign is equal to ¿
shift plus the dash sign is equal to ?
I type these in first, use the backspace key next, and then type in the text. This way I´m not trying to go from English to Spanish. The keyboard is always set to Spanish. Over time I have found this technique useful and I don´t get so frustrated. I hope this helps!
Please make a search on the site for more threads about this topic, thanks a lot
So I guess I'll try it with Spanish keyboards... I'll post this up for one more day to see what other people think!
