Good website for reading?

Question

Hi, I'm half way through the second section of lessons on this website, and I'd like to practice some basic reading - nothing too difficult, ideally short paras present, preterite and imperfect, maybe in simple story form. Couldn't find anything simple after a quick surf yesterday. Suggestions?

The other sources that you can use are Spanish speaking newspapers on the Internet. If there is a certain theme that you like or an exciting world event taking place, then look them up in the Spanish speaking world. It is also a great way to expand your vocabulary. Good luck!

Look up some periodicals from various Spanish speaking countries and read some short articles. It helps with vocab, grammer, and overall understanding. IMHO, reading articles is the best way to gain subject specific vocabulary.

I enjoy reading ¡Despertad! - you can download it here ¡Despertad and if you want to compare the English version you can download that here Awake! - the translation is not word for word but rather paraphrased so you can learn the most natural or colloquial way to express ideas. They are Bible-based magazines which may not be everyone's cup of tea but they deal with topical and social issues that effect everyone, religious and otherwise. I find them to be a good resource with well researched general knowledge articles, grammatically well written with varied vocabulary which really helps with learning Spanish.
