Is "terminada" the wrong choice to use when I want to say "I am almost done?"

For more context, almost done with an everyday, generic activity, whatever that may be. That is not very specific, but you hear it frequently from many Americans when they mean "I'm almost done eating," or on the phone/computer. - ariyah, Dec 7, 2011

You haven't given enough context. If you finish a job: Casi acabé.

If you're all worn out, nothing left to give: Estoy agotado.

And there might still be other meanings you have in mind.

If you mean something like "I've almost ended it," not as though you finished writing a book, but as though you are sick and tired of a contract:

  • A poco lo termino.
  • Casi termino.
  • Estoy para terminarlo.

Terminar would be a last choice. You would have a precise reason for using it.

The most equal expression is "Ya casi termino" or "Ya casi acabo". The first one is the most common.

I like it. Nice epitaph for the tombstone.....nothing left to give.
