Is it a religous term?Or a family term? - annierats, Dec 6, 2011
More of a family term I guess...I never use it, but I don't know if it's a Southern thing! - srtahorner, Dec 6, 2011

Can you say it in English? I have never heard or seen the word godbrother before.

I totally agree Mary and vote for you, god-brothers-in-law? Godcousins? No.. - annierats, Dec 6, 2011
I've never heard of this either - Gillygaloo, Dec 6, 2011
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Godbrother (If enough people use a word in a certain way, does it become a word?) - Stadt, Dec 6, 2011
Isn't the word "ain't" an example of something that eventually became recognized as a word after years of use? Lots of jargon and slang become recognized as official words later on because of the increase in usage - ex. to "google" something - srtahorner, Dec 6, 2011
I don't think 'ain't' is recognized, only as slang. - MaryMcc, Dec 6, 2011
Mary, I totally agree,' ain't 'is just sloppy, whereas 'google' is new thing, requiring a word. - annierats, Dec 7, 2011

Mary is right. This concept doesn't exist in English. You may have Godparents, but you don't aquire another lot of godsiblings, thank god, just think of all the further x-mas presents needed for the god-siblings..
