Histrical Date format in Spanish

Histrical Date format in Spanish

I have just finished a discussion with 6 Mexican friends about the correct format for historical date abbreviations. They were all in agreement that 1000AD would be understood in Mexico as 1000BC but there were no consistent suggestions for dates since the birth of Christ. Does anyone know the acceptable forms for these abreviations?

From what I know, 1000 BC (or BCE) in English corresponds to 1000 AC (antes de Cristo) in Spanish. 1000 AD (or CE) in English corresponds to 1000 DC (después de Cristo) in Spanish.
