The phrase "me es..."

Question

Well, thanks to jeezzle I have learned a new phrase today.

I found out that you can say "me es difícil (hacer algo)"...

I just don't know how common this is. I get different answers from everyone. It is like "coche vs carro" all over again! >.<

One person says it is proper and one person says it is normal. Most of them say that they would not use the phrase, though.

Then in our dictionary we have this--

me es indiferente -> I don't mind, it's all the same to me; (me da igual) I'm not interested in it (no me interesa)

I was told that it sounds very proper and is not that common.

So, I have 3 questions:

1.) How common is this phrase in Mexico? (Me es...)

2.) How common is it in other Latin American countries?

3.) Do you consider it proper or normal?

It's normal to me. Me es dificil llegar a las 5pm. No me conviene llegar a las 5pm.

Es dífícil para mi = me es difícil. You can change the adjective to express the contrary. Me es fácil = Es fácil par mí...

I had to ask around a bit, and I think I have my answer.

It seems that in Mexico it is used (and normal), but not too common. I even had a guy that never heard it before.

I was told that if you did say it, you wouldn't sound funny to the natives. =)

So, I think I'll just stick with the other phrases I know.
