The form varies. You have to actually research/learn for each instance. Texan: tejano. American: estadounidense. Peruviano, Boliviano; Holandes -a (Dutch); Alemán (German); Portugués; so on, so on. Venezuelano.

You don't need all of them. Look up the ones you need. Some will be obvious and effortless: Tibetano. Just don't judge by the English but by the Spanish word for the land: México: mexicano.

Here Spanish is fun and easy because you're never caught short once you know the name of the place. There's no substitute for really knowing, but when you're outta luck, just say "es de Nueva York" etcetera.

Same story with ethnicity and religion: Buddhist, budista. Jewish: Judío. Christian: Cristiano. Mohammaden: Mahometano; or Islamic: islámico. Hindu: hindue.

See? It varies.

Oh please let me add: you just ask your companion, ¿Cómo se dice que Felipe viene de Staten Island?
