I don't know how to say it in Spanish, but I can tell you it means
"Many unofficial soldiers who worked in the countryside as poor farmers helped him."
Guerrilla = unofficial soldier (solider not of the government, word exists in Spanish too, in fact it might be from Spanish?)
Aid = help
peasant = someone poor who works "on the land" (as a farmer)
I'll try to do a Spanish translation..
