Can you make animal sounds in Spanish? For example - El perro ladra, el gato maulla, las gallinas pian, los ganzos graznan y las vacas mugen.

How about a little practice smile

How to play:

Click on newest

.

Name an animal - (in Spanish and English)

(if you can, name an animal that begins with the same letter as the last post or if you can't think of any more animals that start with that letter you can name an animal starting with the next letter in alphabetical order

.

Provide the sound that it makes (in Spanish and English)

.

Add a picture if you like smile

I'll start us off:

La abeja (bee)

Zumba (buzz)

(The next player should add another animal beginning with the letter 'a' until the the 'a's run out and then we can move on to 'b' etc smile

El pavo real: grita (es un sonido terrible, especialmente de un animal tan hermoso)

The peacock: shrieks, screeches (I'm not sure if there is an actual name for it)

What a beautiful picture :) I think you can say el pavo real vocea :) - Kiwi-Girl, Dec 19, 2011
and perhaps - el pavo real da las alaridos - (shrieks) ;) - Kiwi-Girl, Dec 19, 2011
The internet told that they "grita." I was going to try to translated 'blood curdling-ly scream' or something but I found an actual name for it in Spanish ;) - broca23, Dec 19, 2011
sure grita works - it means 'shout' or 'scream' - vocea means to shout or cry out and dar las alaridos means to screech ;) - Kiwi-Girl, Dec 19, 2011
blood curdling screams would be - Gritos espeluznantes or even gritos horripilantes (although that is more along the lines of scary) - Kiwi-Girl, Dec 19, 2011
Thanks for the explanation Kiwi_Girl :) I figured the literal translation of 'grita' probably wasn't the best in this case. - broca23, Dec 20, 2011

i think that chirp is piada I'll try to get some confirmation for you. You can also say pío if you're imitating a bird noise :) - Kiwi-Girl, Nov 30, 2011
it seems that 'pía' or 'pían' is the way to go to describe bird noises also the verbs trinar or graznar - Kiwi-Girl, Nov 30, 2011
Here's on example with paida though: El pajarillo piaba lastimosamente, porque no encontraba a su madre. - Kiwi-Girl, Nov 30, 2011
