Yes, I did my homework=Sí, hice mi tarea.
One can't say simply "Yes, I did." in Spanish. The "I did" part is simply the 1st person sing. of the preterit (given by the inflection of the verb) but you need a verb in Spanish.
You can get away with omitting the verb in conversational English if it's supplied by the preceding context but if you were to walk up to someone on the street and say out of the blue "Yes, I did.", the person would either think you were a nutcase or would ask "Did what?" This shortcut is not available in Spanish.
