I live with a woman to whom I am not married. In English I would introduce her as my 'partner.' How do I introduce her in Spanish?

Hi mcgeem. Welcome to the forum. You do not have to put your whole question in the title, just some relevant details. I have modified your title for your future reference. - Eddy, Nov 28, 2011

I lived in Puerto Rico with my sweetie, and we asked out friends how to refer to each other. They said, "You love each other and live together like a husband and wife? Then we say esposo and esposa." Since there are regional differences, it's best to ask a native speaker of the relevant country.

Hey, Gillermo, that's interesting because when I was in Uruguay recently, I was told "marido" was for "significant other" (as we sometimes say in the EE.UU.), and esposo was used for "legally married husband."

Since you are so close to Uruguay, were you just referring to a "female" partner, or did I misunderstand?

Yes. I don't know why I thought only of a female partner. - 00e657d4, Nov 28, 2011

The use of "mi pareja" corresponds to that of "my partner".
