Acá seems more colloquial; i've never seen it written but often heard Mexicans saying it. And i had the (mere) impression they meant "RIGHT here", specifically.

"Acá" and "aquí" have more or less the same meaning: here.

The main difference is regional preference. "Aca" and "aquí" are both used in Latin American countries, and "aqui" seems to be preferred in Spain. I have friends in Mexico and Guatamala, both of whom use acá frequently.
