Just to add a comment:

Before combining the os pronoun, the vosotros command was levantad+os. In the aguda word levantad the stress was on the last syllable le-van-tad so the stress must remain on that syllable after attaching the pronoun os. As Barney says after dropping the "d" and forming the grave word le-van-ta-os the stress remains on the same syllable and no accent mark is needed.

If a Spanish word ends in a vowel, n, or s, then it is stressed on the penultimate syllable (next to last syllable).

Spanish words ending in any other letter will be stressed on the LAST syllable.

Example: computadora would be stressed on DO as in com-put-a-DO-ra.

Example: hablar would be stressed on the LAR as in hab-LAR.

.

Words that do not follow these rules must have an accent placed over the appropriate syllable to let us know where to put the stress.

Example: último is pronounced UL-ti-mo (not ul-TI-mo).

.

Some vowels are considered "strong" vowels (a, e, o) while others are considered "weak" (i and u). When weak vowels are put next to strong vowels, they make a single syllable. The accent goes over the strong vowel in this case.

Example: levantáis. Without the accent, it would be pronounced le-VAN-tais, but with the accent it is pronounced le-van-TAIS.

.

If a strong vowel and a weak vowel are next to each other and the accent is over the weak vowel, this means the two vowels are pronounced as two separate syllables.

Example: fotografía. Without the accent over the i, this would be pronounced as fo-to-GRA-fia (fia would sound like fya...a single syllable). But with the accent over the i, it is pronounced as fo-to-gra-FI-a.

.

If two strong vowels are put next to each other, they are pronounced as separate syllables.

Example: levantaos. This is pronounced as le-van-TA-os. No accent is needed because it ends in s, and so we already know it must receive the stress on the next to last syllable. (In other words, levantáos and levantaos would be pronounced exactly the same so there is no need for the accent mark.)

Because the strong syllable is levantaos and this is a "llana" kind word.

So, "llana" king word only get accent if the final letter is not "n" "s" or vowel.

This word is read like this: "le - van - ta - os"

A - E - O are open vowels, and when they appear together in a word, they become two syllables.

Regards.
