Huevo = egg

Huevos = eggs

El huevo = the egg

Los huevos = the eggs

Un huevo = an egg

Unos huevos = some eggs

Not really relevant, but interesting... In Mexico, perhaps in other places, if you go into a store and want to know if they have any eggs you ask

"¿Hay huevo?

instead of

¿Hay huevos?

because huevos is a commonly used, vulgar word for testicles, used as a curse word or expletive.

Then, I could see the preference also for using hay instead of some form of tener. XD - webdunce, Nov 27, 2011
Singular nouns are often used with hay, mucho, or poco whether they have other connotations or not. - lorenzo9, Nov 27, 2011

As far as I know, the grammar of el huevos is wrong. It should be el huevo meaning an egg. But if you are going to say 2 or more eggs, it's rather, huevos or los huevos. (Huevos mean eggs and los huevos mean the eggs)

I have also heard that they are called "los blancos" instead of "huevos" in Mex.

Well, that is a good work-around. - webdunce, Nov 27, 2011
