Like Jeezle said posting the whole sentence would be helpful because there are a few options: you might find this link useful word reference - to get rid of

There's deshacerse de for getting rid of like throwing away.

You need to get rid of those shoes - you never wear them anymore.

Tienes que deshacerte de esos zapatos; ya nunca te los pones.

There's olvidarse de or obviar for getting rid of, like, not to bother with or not to bother using

Olvídate de la introducción. Get rid of/Don't bother with the introduction.

Obviemos las formalidades y vayamos directamente al punto. Let's not bother with the formalities and get straight to the point.

There's deshacerse de or librarse de as in getting rid of someone

Tengo que librarme de él. I have to get rid of him.

as well as sacarse de encima to get rid of as in make them go away

Aproveché de la situación para sacármelo de encima.

I took advantage of the situation to get rid of him.

and in México apparently desafanar a alguien (del grupo) means to get rid of someone too

En cuanto podamos, nos desafanamos a Carlito porque ya me hartó con sus chistes.

As soon as we can lets get rid of Carlos because I'm sick of his jokes.
