OK all you native spanish speakers--- what word do you use for "stye" (inflammation of the eyelid-- also called hordeolum). I have found "orzuelo" in the dictionary, but none of my patients have ever heard of it. My Mexican patients say it is called a "perrilla" or maybe a "perilla". Can you help me out?

The traditional spelling is "sty". - samdie, Nov 24, 2011
Good question. It brings out the complexity of national uses of Spanish. - Jubilado, Feb 15, 2013

Orzuelo es correcto, aunque es coloquial se usa bastante.

Quizá tambien se puede usar "grano en el ojo" smile

"absceso ocular" es más técnico.
