how to say - I like it

Hola amigos, saludos. I am still confused about the use of the verb "gustar". I understand that When I want to say "I like to eat pizza" then I say me gusta comer pizza but to say "I like pizza" ---> Me gusta pizza. I hope I am correct till now. To say " I like it" is either le me gusta or le/la me gusta ..... gracias y adiós.

Hi Moh1, and welcome to the foro.

You don't use the "le".

The easiest way to think of the verb gustar is that it means to appeal to.

So the thing that is appealing is the subject, and so the verb conjugates to match the subject.

The ones to whom it appeals are the indirect object. So you use an i.o.p. to match whoever is doing the liking of the thing. It's that easy.

Me gusta el chococolate. Chocolate appeals to me. (I like chocolate.)

Te gustan las flores. The flowers appeal to you. (You like flowers.)

Te gusto. I appeal to you. (You like me.)

Nos gusta el café. Coffee appeals to us. (We like coffee.)

Les gustamos. (We appeal to them/ y'all).

When you understand gustar in the sense of "to appeal to", suddenly it isn't backwards at all, and totally makes sense.

Good luck.
