How is "one-pointed" written in Spanish?

How is "one-pointed" written in Spanish?

The context would be "a one-pointed tool".

I'm not finding a word or phrase for "one-pointed".

My attempt: Would "una herramienta con un punto" work, or is this one of those phrases that doesn't translate well into Spanish? Muchas gracias!

I did a web search on google.com.mx; I typed in "herramienta de punta única" and - qué milagro - I came up with several hits. Check it out; it may be what you are looking for.

I think the punta única sounds excellent. - annierats, Nov 20, 2011
Gracias, mountaingirl. I think this is the best idea so far so I used it in Ians post. - bandit51jd, Nov 20, 2011

LOL, I thought about this in the night, I can be of no particular assistance with the Spanish, but I offer two-pronged as the word in English to complement the single pointed weapon or tool..! A hayfork or a muck fork has prongs rather than points..And there is a very small type of hand gardening fork that goes with trowel, it usually has three prongs. A deers antler, however has points, I asked my husband. Sorry about this answer, it's the most useless ever presented on SD, but this question nagged in my mind.

I think "single pointed tool" would work in my sentence. So could the the Spanish be, "la herramienta con un punto soltero"?

Exactly what is a one pointed tool anyway? Like, a pencil? I would say in English a single pointed tool but still, unfortunately, I can't help you with the Spanish.

Full context:

An example of a prehistoric tool is the antler from a red deer. It was shaped into a one-pointed tool rather than the modern day pickax.

Un ejemplo de una herramienta prehistórica es el cuerno de un ciervo rojo. Fue se formó en una herramienta de un punto en vez el pico de día moderno.

Ah, excellent explanation. - annierats, Nov 19, 2011
I think your second effort sounds better, myself. Wait for some natives to tell us. - annierats, Nov 19, 2011
Gracias, annierats!! I think the 2nd one is closer to the Spanish, but we will see! - bandit51jd, Nov 19, 2011
I don't think you need the 'fue' but I'm very unreliable on grammar. - annierats, Nov 19, 2011
I think you are right. The "was" is in or a part of the word "formó". We shall see! Again, thanks for the help! - bandit51jd, Nov 19, 2011

What tool are you requiring? A screwdriver? A knife? A drill bit?

Ian is just running a useful section on tools, maybe you could tell us what you want. After all, very few tools have two points...
