He wishes he hadn't stopped talking to his mom
For my project.
Seems like it should be
Desea que no dejara de hablar con su mamá but google shows no results for "Desea que no dejara"
and I wonder about "Desea que no hubiera dejado de hablar" or some other way. Some other wish? Ojala maybe?

To me, the most natural way to say this is: "(Él) Desearía no habe dejado de hablarle a su mamá.

"Desea" in this context of wishful thinking does not sound right to me. "Desea" in my understanding is for things you hope to happen in the future, not for something that happened in the past. Regretful wishing is "desearía". - Gekkosan, Nov 17, 2011
