Okay I working on a Major in computer science. I want to express this in Spanish without confusion. The official term for computer science is informatico but this name for computer information system too. I wondering is this term word lead some people to believe I have different major such as computer information systems ( Vastly different degrees). So what is appropriate way to say this two majors without losing their true meaning?

Update: Ciencias de la Computación seems to be the standard term but the word is listed in the academic language dictionary. So it isn't a official word. Of course there are words like googlar that aren't listed. Oh well I have phrase that I need!

  • To defend against further insult or sarcasm I did do research on sites such word reference and real academia

I'm really sorry if my post came across as sarcastic; I did not intend it that way! I was trying to explain how I came up with the information, and , since I am not knowledgable in the field, I was hopeful it answered your question. - mountaingirl123, Nov 17, 2011

If you do a search on google.com.mx of "ciencias de la computación" you will come up with an informative Wikipedia article.

This is a copy and paste of the first sentence; maybe it answers your question.

"Las ciencias de la computación son aquellas que abarcan el de las bases teóricas de la información y la computación, así como su aplicación en sistemas computacionales..." (Wikipedia)

Thanks for your answer eventhough I feel uncalled for sarcasm. - Tasear, Nov 17, 2011
