Are you positive that the handwritten "i" is not a semicolon? (Meaning the natives of Puelenje and Cagibio)

I know that "I" is "yo". That's basic stuff. I am reading a document from the 1600's in Spanish and the word "i" is used. Does it mean the same a "y" (meaning "and") in Spanish?

The sentence that uses it goes like this:

".......Vmd. mandado publicar a llegado a mi noticia que estan vacos los indios de Puelenje i Cagibio que han acabado en terminos de ella por fin y muerte......."

Puelenje seems to either be a town or mean little town? And Cagibio is Cajibio, Cauca, Colombia.

Thanks for any help.

I, in Spanish, is simply "yo". If you want to say something like I talk=yo hablo.

Good luck with Spanish!
