Bored and Boring

Bored and Boring

I have discovered that there is no special word for "boring" in Spanish, to differentiate it from the word "bored." For instance, "Estoy aburrida" would mean, "I am bored." But what if I wanted to say, "I am boring." I guess that isn't the most common of phrases, but is there some sort of way of saying that in Spanish? Google Translator says "Soy aburrida" means "I am boring," but of course I can't really trust Google Translator all the time. Any insight would be appreciated!

You got it! Estoy aburrida/o = I'm bored and Soy aburrida/o = I'm boring.

Indeed, this is one of those places where you must understand the difference between ser and estar. - Gekkosan, Nov 14, 2011

For the moment you could get by by saying; Mujeres abburidas, como yo. ( Boring women , like myself). I'm very interested to see how to solve this . If you say Soy abburida you say I'm boring but estoy abburida would mean I'm bored, that's my guess, but pls, wait for more answers. Being boring, unfortunaly seems more permanent, hence, use ser.

Estar aburrido/a = Bored

Ser aburrido/a = Boring.

Ella está aburrida: she's bored. Ella es aburrida: she's boring.
