Is the word chaparro, short and maybe even squat, used more often in some Spanish speaking regions than others? I've seen it as a nickname but did not know the meaning attached to it.

Estoy con Fox10, aunque en españa no usamos esa palabra, lo mas cerca que tenemos es "Chaparron" y es cuando llueve mucho
