It is something that is at the bottom of a map where there are symbols and they say mountains lakes rivers etc

There are several ways to express " Map legend" meaning the symbols used on a map.
"Convenciones"
"Indicadores simbólicos"
"Claves de mapa"
"Referencias"
"Indicadores clave"
" Símbolos"
Often it may depend on the type of map you are reading.
I have seen several of these terms on maps and atlases in México.
