How to say "lol" in the Spanish equivalent?

Question

We all use lol as an initialism for "lot's of laughter" or "laugh out loud".

Is there a similar way of abbreviating this sentiment in Spanish?

So now we have: Lot's Of Laughter, Lot's of Laughs, Laugh Out Loud, Laughs Out Loud, Laughing Out Loudly.......any more versions????!! :) - adelino9, Nov 11, 2011

Jajaja. En español, al menos en latinoamerica, no se usa ninguna abreviatura para indicar que te estás riendo, solo indicas el sonido que se hace ( Jajaja, jejeje, jijiji, jojojo).

The closest I found to lol on this link was:

q risa! = ¡Qué risa! = What a laugh!

However, from another source I found the following:

jajaj = LOL and XD = lol

So, I'd suggest using "XD," but best to wait for a native speaker to confirm!

I don't know of any "equivalents" other than what people have already shared. However, I will say that it might be safe to just use "lol." I have amigos hispanohablantes from different Spanish-speaking countries that use it; some already know what it means without me telling them and some just ask me what it means when they see me use it. Before you know it, they'll be using it (or at least that's been my experience), probably interchangeably with jaja, jeje, and all that.
