ghosted, he is a ghost
What is the meaning of this in prison language?
I just watched a very rough prison film with the name "Ghosted" but not even through context could I understand why they were using that term.
It did not help that the "ghosted" guy was from Glasgow, jeeeeez, but good practice, I love challenges![]()
However, I hope to be getting some help from you guys![]()

A ghost prisoner is one who has not been registered, allowing the government to keep his identity and imprisonment a secret. Being ghosted is having this happen to you.
Hmmm, this guy was imprisoned because he burnt a place down with a child inside.
So, am I to understand they are keeping it a secret in order no to reveal his identity (as he was very young when this happened)? Hmmm
Why did the other prisoners think this was a bad thing though? they went on an on, he lied to you, he is a ghost....
I'd have to watch the movie to see the specific context. . .prisons aren't like bars, where I've spent a lot of time ![]()
I checked UrbanDictionary.com. I think [definition #3] (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=ghosted) is probably what they may have been talking about.
ghosted: to be moved from one prison to another without being told in advance.
I think I can imagine now....
The guy had been moved to that prison and an older guy took him under his wings, as he was right there and then abused by another prisoner.
Why was he a ghost and they were trying to hide his identity? Because he had killed , involuntarily, the kid of the guy who was protecting him ![]()
Very rough film, I loved it...very challenging, really difficult to understand, the young man with that Glasgow accent, wow ...jeje
I love that accent. Even for a native speaker, though, it is sometimes hard to understand.
There is more than one definition for this strange word. Look here. Maybe one of these definitions will fit in with the plot of the movie and make sense for you.
