"de la manana" is from 12 midnight to 12 noon de la tarde is from 12 noon to 6pm de la noche is from 6pm to 12am
am I right?

It is variable from country to country, but in general you are right.
In Mexico we use "de la madrugada" from 1:00 am to 5:00 am or before sunrise. "De la mañana" or "del día" since sunrise to 12:00 pm. "De la tarde" from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm and finally "de la noche" from 7:00 pm to 12:00 am.
We say "el medio día" when is it 12:00 pm and "la media noche" at 12:00 am.
