I agree. Other times it can mean "cool" as in "that's so cool!". Chido is another word used similarily - riverphoenix1970, Nov 5, 2011
I would also agree. I think it is used in Peru and some other countries in South America - FELIZ77, Nov 5, 2011

My Colombian friend once suggested this word to me for when I need to say that something is "cool" in Spanish. Then the other day I was listening to a podcast of a Colombian being interviewed, and she also said that chévere means "cool." She also said it is a very Colombian expression.

When I hear the word chévere, I think of the song by Stevie Wonder where he's trying to impress a girl with his garbage Spanish. He says 'todo está bien, chévere". I take it to mean 'cool'
