Tips to help remember

Question

I was just wondering if anyone had any tips to help remember the Spanish words as I am finding it so difficult.

Try to find someone that also speaks spanish, or better yet someone else learning spanish, its a huge help to actually use the words with someone else, especially when the words actually have meaning, actually speaking and hearing the words where there is a purpose seems to really make your brain retain the words..

Hi Joey and welcome to the forum,

In general, it takes time, patience and repetition to memorize most vocabulary. Some words (such as cognates) are easy to remember. There are also some interesting words that tend to stick with us without much effort. But for the most part, it takes time. Think of how many times a parent repeats words and names of objects to their children before they catch on.

That being said, I have found that when I learn words that are important to my daily life, they are easier to learn. Try learning the names of items you use in your daily life and label or repeat these names (even in your head) as you use them.

Also, if you ever have the opportunity to visit a Spanish speaking country, you will find that you absorb and memorize so much more, in a quicker period of time. I don't know why this is, but I have found it to be the best method for me. However, this is not always an option.

Try doing a search. I believe there are many more threads on this topic.

Well, I was told that I should use the word as much as I can after I learn it... Perhaps try to make some sentences with your new vocabulary to help the words stick.

Thanks everyone I am gonna put these all to the test. I find that I can read the words etc just cannot remember what they mean
