arrepentirse
I have only encountered the reflexive form of arrepentirse, como
Les prometo que no se arrepentirán.
I promise you won't regret it.
What about the non reflexive form, arrepentir. Would you use it, for instance, to say (es correcto decir)
Vas a arrepentir de hacer eso
(not sure about which preposition arrepentir takes, if any / no estoy seguro sobre la preposición que seguirá el verbo, si hay alguna), or would that be / es mejor decir
Vas a arrepentirte de hacer eso. (My guess is you would use the reflexive / Creo que así es)
¿Entonces, puedes darme un ejemplo del uso de arrepentir en la forma no reflexivo?
Mil gracias,

Arrepentirse is a pronominal verb by definition and it only works that way. On the other hand, according to RAE arrepentir is not a Spanish verb, it simply doesn't exist. Link
I don't think it exists outside of the reflexive/pronomial form. I've heard this word a lot but mostly like this:
"te lo vas a arrepentir"
"te vas a arrepentir"
in fact I think the (lo) is just understood most of the time.
Hazlo, pero te vas a arrepentir.
Watch anime in Spanish, they use this word all the time. I know, anime. But Spanish speakers seem to love it and the even dub it into Spanish. Try hunter x hunter, they use arrepentirse a lot in that show.
Just out of interest other verbs which only have a pronominal form ![]()
arrepentirse (e:ie) - to repent
atreverse a - to dare
darse cuenta de - to realize
jactarse de - to boast
quejarse de - to complain about
suicidarse - to commit suicide
Well...I'll bring a bit of controversy.
If we can conjugate "arrepentir" as in "se arrepintió de sus crímenes" or " te arrepentirás si haces el mal" or "si no me lo dicen se van a arrepentir", endless examples as you all know.
I believe the RAE should consider the inclusion of "arrepentir" in its infinitive form as an actual word as it's so commonly used and widely accepted.
Don't throw rocks at me, it's my view, friendly feedback appreciated.
good job
