What is the difference between "respeto" and "respecto"? I am doing some translating work and was wondering if there was a reason to use one over the other.

Respecto — has to do with how something relates to another. For example, "con respecto a su pregunta..." ? "With respect to your question.../In regards to your question..."

Respeto — Deals with consideration or deference that one gives to another. For example "Es una falta de respeto que me lo preguntes" ? "It's disrespectful for you to ask me that."
