Can you also use "¿Y tú?"?

In lesson one we learned of formality an if I wanted to ask how my friend was doing after she asked me could I say: "¿Y tú?" instead of "¿Y usted?" or is "¿Y tú? not used at all?

¿Y tú? is the perfect informal response.

¿Y usted¿ is formal and used for teachers, elders, strangers, etc.
¿Y tú? is informal and used for friends, people your own age, etc.
Both are used everyday in almost all conversations that you will have...in other words, very common!
