how do you know when to use the reply "a mi" (example: "a mi tambien") or "yo" (example: "yo no.")

a mi tabien = me too yo no = I don't
yo= I
mi= me
Yo no tengo un regalo. I don't have a gift. ¿Teines un regalo para mi? = Do you have a gift for me?
